Personalities of the houseguests varied greatly to create tension among the players. Adding new (IKEA) furniture, new challenges, and removing the jackass idea of a chicken coop in the back yard with a hot bed of sin - a hot tub - Big Brother 2 got a face lift. Houseguests were sent into the house to compete with the task of grabbing a bed, all of which varied in comfort and size. The competition started immediately. Challenges performed as a group determined the amount of food they received, as well as what they would eat; losing challenges often resulted in a week of Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches. Rewards were presented to individuals from time to time. Two more houseguests were added to the roster, as well as the weekly challenge of Head of Household. When a player wins an HOH competition, they decide who shall be nominated for eviction. They also gain a week in private quarters as well as personal comforts, such as a refrigerator stocked with their favorite snacks.

Audience members no longer called in, as the house guests themselves voted on who was to leave the game. The evictees made the final judgment to decide the winner.
